Whatmas?
Hey. How ya’ doing?
It’s been a mostly busy month and, as it seems to be the norm these days, I’ve had a lot of things on my mind. Thoughts of Christmas season, although welcome, has been little more than a blip on my radar this year. I just really done my shopping this week, and I haven’t bothered to put up decorations or even think about sending cards (electronic or otherwise). Christmas totally snuck up on me, and I’m surprised that it’s going to be here this weekend.
However, there has been plenty of talk lately of the “Merry Christmas” vs “Happy Holidays” debate, but there’s no real argument as everyone agrees that it’s all pretty silly and it’s political correctness gone too far. Around the office, we’ve lampooned the idea with our “Merry Generic Holiday” sign on the door.
Aside from Christmas proper, the big deal are the many trips to Nacogdoches I’ll be making during these fews weeks. This past weekend I was already in East Texas driving to Nacogdoches and Marshall, mostly for the purpose to see my friend Angela finally graduate from ETBU, but I also got to see several of the Splatt brothers. I actually had a lot of fun in the time I was there, considering I spent over 12 hours on the road this weekend. I’m leaving again tomorrow morning to attend a little party to celebrate Tom’s engagement, but of course I’ll stick around another day or so to make my trip a little more meaningful. I’ll make one more around New Year’s, just because tradition would dictate it so. I did briefly contemplate *not* coming for New Year’s, but I decided it would be good and rare (perhaps last?) opportunity to really hang out with the guys, since Tom and Thomas will both be married by this time next year.
Work stays interesting, and there’s lots of new challanges already lined up for the company as a whole and me personally for 2006. Let’s just say I’ll have to become reasonably fluent in Java fairly quickly. I had all of six weeks of Java at UT, so it’ll be interesting.
As most of you can imagine, I’m just really looking forward to the break and the opportunity to see a bunch of old friends.

Yeah, it’s about time they let me outa here, isn’t it? I really appreciate you coming by. It meant a lot to me. And in response to a more recent post (I hate double posting so I will just post it all here) I closed my blog. No one read it anyway. At least I think.
