Reunions Abound!
2007 is already shaping up to look like a good year for me in anticipated album releases and tours. There seems to be a torrent of long anticipated band reunions coming about. Of course, there’s the 3-man Genesis reunion that I’m completely excited about, with tour dates in Europe announced and already on sale and US dates to be announced. Here are a few more you guys might be interested in:
- Neil Finn has announced that he is putting back together Crowded House for a new album and tour. I don’t know any of Neil’s work, nor do I know much Crowded House outside of their hits, but the critical praise I often hear of these entities makes me very interested in this reunion.
- Van Halen is about to tour again, but this time they plan to go out with David Lee Roth as the front man. This is big news because Van Halen hasn’t toured with Roth since his initial departure 20 years ago. It’s also interesting in that a few years ago they “reunited” and toured with their other popular front man Sammy Hagar, and a couple years before that, Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth did a tour *together*. I suppose having exhausted all other possible combinations, it was time to but Diamond Dave back at the head.
- The biggest news of all that might interest most of you is that there are strong rumors that long-deemed impossible reunion of The Police are in the works. Though nothing is confirmed the fans and the media are getting all worked up, and so far nothing has been denied. As usual, Sting seems to be the only member of the band to be reluctant about a reunion, but ’07 marks the 30th anniversary of their breakout hit ‘Roxanne’ and will give reason for the guys to hit the road.
